This Way Home project is an innovative partnership model between Newcastle City Council, Housing NSW, Compass Housing and a number of non government agencies that currently provide service to the homeless people in Newcastle and include, Mission Australia, Samaritans and Baptists Community Services. The model draws on best practice approaches in Australia and overseas including the common ground model. This Way Home project targets people who have been chronically homeless including people who have been longterm rough sleepers and those families excluded from mainstream crisis housing options and creates the opportunity to change the homeless sectors focus from managing homelessness to breaking the cycle of homelessness permanently. |
